Overview
A clutter-free sanctuary designed for a high-achieving young couple who wants to unwind — and occasionally entertain with ease. Built on two commanding ideas: maximizing square footage and maximizing natural light.
Furniture Layout
Two datums cross the living room and became the underlying spatial logic used for the layout. The first crosses the living room and provides a clear pathway from the balcony to the kitchen. The second crosses from the entrance through the dining/kitchen to the staircase.
Material Design
The second set of lines lay horizontally in elevation to balance the high ceilings and expand the center space visually in depth. It starts with a stone pedestal that anchors the other edge of the seating space with hidden drawers that house storage. The asymmetrical design of the entertainment built-in breaks the formality of the space and informs a fluid seating composition.
Living Room — Bar
Storage as spatial design. Functional built-ins line the open plan — natural materials ground, shinier finishes reflect light back into the room. The bar zone continues this logic: dark walnut millwork with dark bronze pulls for the cabinetry enhanced with ambient lighting design.
Lighting
Double sconces in alabaster and polished metal flank the other edge to balance the asymmetry and provide soft lighting. The Folia Ceiling Lamp by Federico Stefanovich spanning the ceiling reflects warm soft lighting filtered through the metal back into the space.
Kitchen — Island
The kitchen is built around one idea: nothing and everything needs to be there. Travertine countertops in warm ivory, sleek dark chrome pulls, and walnut brown cabinetry continues the mid-century modern palette from the living room.
Dining Room
The dining space is the statement the residence makes upon arrival — ascending from the entrance stair, this is the first room that declares itself. The wishbone chairs in deep red are the project's most deliberate gesture: drawn directly from the moodboard's color story, they arrive as an unexpected warmth.
